What technical issues should I plan for before launch?

Internet and bandwidth

Test your upload and download speeds during the event window. If you're streaming video, bandwidth can spike. Have a backup internet connection (mobile hotspot or secondary provider) available.

Browser compatibility

Test your expo platform on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Test on Android and iOS. Some attendees will use older browsers; know what breaks and communicate limitations.

Database and server load

Run load tests before launch. Simulate concurrent attendees entering booths simultaneously. Know your platform's failure point and what happens when it's exceeded.

Chat and messaging delays

Video chat can lag under load. Have phone or email as backup contact methods. Test all communication channels with sample traffic.

Video and media playback

Compressed videos often have codec issues. Test playback on attendee-side devices before going live.

Create a runbook

Document every known issue and the restart procedure. Assign a technical lead and backup. Have their contact info visible to exhibitors. Plan for graceful degradation—what features can fail without shutting down the whole event?
